You can hire a lawyer in any state but if your case needs to go to court then you very well may be better of with a lawyer who is knowledgeable with the Florida rules of procedure and the Florida court system.
As a general matter, you may be better off with a lawyer in the state where the accident happened.
I believe that the hiring of a lawyer is a personal decision and you should be comfortable with the lawyer that you hire. That certainly may take precedent over the location of the lawyer.
